About Dr. DeBoard

Dr. DeBoard completed medical school at the University of Washington & followed with a residency in general surgery at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, California. During residency he developed a great appreciation for the complexity of cardiac surgery and the profound benefits it yields to patients. He then completed a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah. 


During his training, he was active in research across a variety of surgical subspecialties. He has presented at regional & national conferences and is published in multiple medical journals. Dr. DeBoard remains active in surgical education and cardiac surgical research.

Some Services Provided

Coronary Artery Disease

Dr. DeBoard specializes in coronary artery bypass grafting & using multiple arterial or total arterial revascularization techniques when appropriate. He also offers hybrid techniques in conjunction with cardiologists.

Minimally Invasive & Arrhythmia Surgery

Dr. DeBoard has specific interests in minimally invasive cardiac surgery and surgical ablation for atrial fibrillation. In addition, he is specially trained to offer minimally invasive (VATS) left atrial appendage ligation for reducing the risk of stroke in A-fib patients & those wanting to stop taking blood thinning (anticoagulant) medications. 

Aortic, Valvular, & Other Cardiac Disease

Dr. DeBoard also has specific interest in ascending aortic aneurysm repair, aortic valve replacement, and aortic root replacement. In additional he is trained in mitral valve repair & replacement, and a variety of other procedures for cardiac defects and cardiac tumors.
